Testimonials

“I have seen Gilbert Deitch in every capacity as a lawyer. I have opposed him in premises liability cases, used him as a consultant and seen his work as a trial lawyer during my near decade tenure on the bench. Gil is the preeminent premises liability legal mind, truly at the top of the heap of lawyers handling these cases.”
- Gino Brogdon, Former Judge,
Fulton County Superior Court

“Andy Rogers’ dedication to finding the best solutions for sexual assault victims and their families over the years has been an invaluable asset to the healing and empowerment of this community of survivors and to those who work so hard to help them.”
- Virginia Vaughan, Founding Executive
Director, DeKalb Rape and Crisis Center
1989-2007

About the Firm

The Crime Victim Law Group is the law firm of Deitch & Rogers, LLC. Our mission is to obtain justice for crime victims by obtaining money damages from negligent parties who fail to take reasonable steps to prevent criminal attacks.

Andrew Rogers & Gilbert Deitch

Andrew Rogers & Gilbert Deitch

We are uniquely devoted to the assistance of victims and their families and have had the honor of providing legal representation in hundreds of cases. While no one would volunteer to become a crime victim in exchange for any sum of money, our firm works hard to obtain as much compensation as possible for our clients to help them recover from devastating physical and emotional trauma and so they may lead more normal lives.

  • Gilbert H. Deitch has been at the forefront of inadequate security/premises liability law since 1982. He has litigated more crime victim cases on behalf of plaintiffs and in more courts than any other lawyer in the State of Georgia. Gilbert is widely recognized as the leading expert in the field of apartment and hotel negligence.
  • Andrew T. Rogers has devoted his entire career to seeking justice for victims. Beginning in 1988 as a criminal prosecutor in one of Georgia’s busiest court systems, he represented DeKalb County and the State of Georgia in thousands of cases against criminals who victimized innocent people. Andy has been representing crime victims in civil cases exclusively since 1998.

Our Beliefs
Deitch & Rogers, LLC understands the realities of the justice system. We also understand how people who are victimized by crime can best be served by the legal system.

We frequently hear from our clients that the most harmful effects of being victimized are the feelings of helplessness and loss of control.
The difficult and often painful reality is that due to factors such as limited resources and personnel, the primary focus of criminal prosecution is to punish criminals, rather than to address the needs of victims. Due to the sheer number of cases being prosecuted, the criminal justice system cannot adequately help a victim recover from physical and emotional trauma. And the criminal justice system is simply not designed to provide monetary compensation for the physical and emotional injuries suffered by crime victims.

Clients often tell us “it’s not about the money as much as it is about making sure this doesn’t happen to someone else.”

Unlike the criminal system, the civil justice system is intentionally designed to provide for the recovery of money damages. An important added benefit to pursuing money damages is to motivate wrongdoers to change their behavior. The idea is to get adequately compensated for your injuries while giving the wrongdoer a good reason to act differently next time.

Deitch & Rogers firmly believes that just as the criminal system is intended to address effects of crime on society, the civil system is intended to address the effects of crime on the victim.

In addition to aggressively pursuing any criminal perpetrator who has sufficient financial assets, we aggressively file lawsuits against negligent third parties whose actions create conditions that allow criminals to victimize our clients. These third parties may include landlords, apartment complex owners, hotel/motel operators or employers of perpetrators.

In many cases we pursue civil litigation even if the criminal prosecution is unsuccessful or there is no prosecution at all. We also work closely with prosecutors’ offices during our clients’ involvement with the criminal system and we routinely provide referrals to additional victim assistance resources

Affiliations
Deitch & Rogers, LLC and its lawyers have attained “AV” ratings from Martindale-Hubbell, indicating the highest legal ability and highest ethical standards possible for any individual lawyer or law firm.

Deitch & Rogers, LLC is affiliated with the National Crime Victim Bar Association and The National Center for Victims of Crime and is networked throughout the country with other law firms that routinely represent crime victims in civil cases. As a result, we are easily able to partner with a lawyer or firm in another state in the event your case needs to be pursued outside the state of Georgia. We are also frequently associated to be lead counsel by other law firms who have less experience in crime victim cases.

FEES
There is no charge for an initial consultation and most of our clients are represented on a contingent fee basis, meaning no attorney fee is due unless and until we obtain a recovery on behalf of the client.  If you have some questions many of these can be answered over the phone, however more complex questions often require forms to be signed as the Law requires.  Give us a call today to speak with either Mr. Deitch or Mr. Rogers.  We can be reached at 770-394-9000.
